As the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak is top of mind for many for us, we wanted to share our current approach to protecting our clients and employees while continuing to provide excellent service.

Private Ocean uses a Business Continuity Plan which regularly monitors emergency situations that may disrupt business operations. We regularly review our processes based on the issue at hand to ensure ongoing operations and to limit the impact on our clients and staff. As part of this plan, we are currently following these guidelines:

  • Heightened Education and Awareness. We believe that information is key to protecting ourselves and our loved ones from this illness. Employees showing any symptoms or signs of this illness, or those who have recently been exposed to individuals with COVID-19 are mandated to stay at home. We offer flexibility to these employees and have processes in place to ensure our clients’ needs are met. In addition, we are reminding our employees to maintain personal hygiene habits and to keep workstations and shared areas clean.
  • Remote Access to Work. Our significant investment in secure, remote technology was made, in part, to provide our offices with extensive flexibility to maintain business continuity in situations like this one.
  • Minimizing Face to Face Meetings. We encourage clients who are showing symptoms of the virus or who have been exposed to individuals who may be ill to reschedule in-person meetings or to have a video conference or telephone meeting instead.
  • Expanding Communications with Partners. Much of the work that we do is in concert with custodians, vendors and other partners. We are in regular communication with these companies, sharing information to understand their readiness should there be a potential escalation of the virus.
