A little About Us.

Founded by Richard Stone and Greg Friedman in 2009, Private Ocean combined two of the oldest privately-held wealth management firms in the San Francisco Bay Area – Salient Wealth Management and Friedman & Associates. In 2018, we continued our growth when the firm acquired Lakeview Financial in Seattle and Mosaic Financial Partners in San Francisco. Throughout our continued evolution, our culture, shared values and philosophy on client service has kept us true to our commitment to deliver personal and powerful wealth management to our clients.

What is a Private Ocean?

It’s a place where the experience is deeply personal and the resources and opportunities are immense.

With Private Ocean, you enjoy the direct support of a close-knit team of industry leaders. People who work for you include:

  • Investment committee co-chairs with rock-solid judgment, based on decades of experience navigating market cycles
  • An innovator in personal financial planning
  • A recipient of prestigious Schwab IMPACT® Award
  • An industry veteran who managed a $30 billion portfolio on Wall Street

These aren’t figureheads or just names on a website. They’re industry veterans who listen closely to you, plan with you, develop an investment strategy with you and monitor all your portfolio activity.

They’re not the only ones. Your dedicated support team includes seasoned advisors and operations specialists. Each of them embraces your goals as their own. Each contributes to making you feel confident, informed and in control at all times.
