Private Ocean congratulates CEO and Co-Founder Greg Friedman on his recent nomination as a finalist in the Industry Awards for “CEO of the Year.” The newly-created category was established to recognize individual chief executive officers (CEOs) of independent Registered Investment Advisory (RIA) firms who have demonstrated courage, vision, integrity and high performance in leading their firms through new challenges and opportunities this past year.

Under Friedman’s leadership, Private Ocean acquired Seattle-based RIA, Lakeview Financial, in January, moved past the $1B AUM mark, created an ownership strategy that reflects his commitment to the next generation of owners, expanded its diversity (50% of staff is female and/or minority), implemented a mentoring leadership program for employees, and launched an ESG investing initiative to meet the growing needs of socially conscious investors.

“I believe that true success comes from thoughtful and proactive evolution,” Friedman said. “Our strength as a team at Private Ocean comes from our collaborative culture and our willingness to embrace positive change. Everyone plays a leadership role in helping us achieve growth, and I am honored to be nominated on their behalf for this incredible recognition.”

Now in its 4th year, the 2018 Industry Awards recognizes the companies and organizations that support financial advisor success. Nearly 500 nominations were received from more than 300 companies in 2017, and 127 organizations were selected as finalists.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on September 13, 2018 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom in New York City.
